- What we used:
Circular needles 5 mm and 7 mm
Silk-tweed, 3 balls
Mohair yarn from goat, 100 g
If you want to use different yarns, both our yarns required a 3 mm needle.
How we did it:
Cast on 54 stitches on a 7 mm needle, but start knitting with 5 mm needles. You avoid casting on too tight by using larger needles to cast on with.
Start knitting a rib, K1, P1. Knit round and round.
When the rib is 4 cm, switch to the 7 mm needles. Change the rib to K2, P2. At the same time you increase one stitch for every stitch on the first round = 108 stitches.
Knit this new rib-pattern for 11 cm. Increase one stitch for every stitch again = 216 stitches. Continue the K2,P2 rib for another 15 cm.
Cast off loosely.
Knit two identical pieces.
Assemble the pieces in the back. We sewed 30 cm of the pieces together.
You might want to tighten the seam a bit. Your choice.
We also tightened the bolero under the arms by making a seam there as well. We sewed for about 15 cm just where we increased for the second time. It gives the piece a bit more of a shape.
Assemble all loose ends and show it off!
